Between 2018–2020, at Xcalibur Smart Mapping we collected >43,000 km of airborne electromagnetic (AEM), magnetic, and radiometric data over 140,000 km² to map shallow aquifers and geology critical for water resource management. Three survey phases used helicopter and fixed-wing AEM systems, combining high-resolution grids near Shellmound, Mississippi, with regional grids over the MAP. Results revealed correlations between radiometric data and surficial geology, mapped faults, paleochannels, and aquifer connectivity. The USGS derived elevation, thickness, and resistivity models, identifying connectivity between surface water and groundwater along major rivers. Multi-scale mapping showed AEM’s cost-effectiveness compared to traditional methods, emphasizing community-driven surveys for regional geoscience data, supporting future decision-making across multiple disciplines and stakeholders DOWNLOAD PDF Additional Resources Airborne Electromagnetics USA ( AMERICA ) JULY 1, 2025 Mississippi Aquifer Mapping SEE MORE Airborne Electromagnetics NAMIBIA ( AFRICA ) APRIL 30, 2025 Large Scale Airborne TEM Mapping SEE MORE
