Airborne Scalar Gravimetry

Advanced airborne scalar gravimetry for subsurface exploration and resource mapping

At Xcalibur Smart Mapping we provide a proprietary strapdown scalar gravimeter that acquires high-quality gravity data without the need for a stabilized platform.

Gravity data—used independently or integrated with other datasets—helps identify and characterize major source structures that host hydrocarbon accumulations, massive base metal deposits, iron ore bodies, salt domes, and hydrogeological aquifers.

We acquire airborne scalar gravity either as a primary dataset or as a valuable complementary dataset alongside Airborne Electromagnetics (AEM), Airborne Gravity Gradiometry (AGG), magnetic, and radiometric surveys.

Airborne Scalar Gravimetry (ASG) supports surface and subsurface investigations across multiple applications, including hydrocarbons, geothermal energy, hydrogen, mineral exploration, geodetic modeling, and more.

iCORUS-iX™ scalar airborne gravimeter

The iCORUS-iX™ is a unique scalar gravimeter that acquires gravity data without the stabilized platform required by conventional airborne gravimeters. The iCORUS-iX™ is exclusive to Xcalibur Smart Mapping and delivers data at half the noise levels of commercially available systems. It has evolved from the successful sGRAV gravimeter and has significantly enhanced performance and data quality.

The iCORUS-iX™ is compact and is very robust to air turbulence experienced during surveys. This allows Xcalibur to acquire high quality scalar gravity data simultaneously with magnetic, electromagnetic or gravity gradiometry surveys, even under turbulent and dynamic drape conditions, without impacting on the primary technology survey.

When used at wider line spacings (1km or more), the iCORUS-iX™ acquires gravity data quality of <1.0mGal at a half-wavelength resolution of 3km.
