9th International Airborne Electromagnetics Workshop

OGC Connect Cape Town will explore how geospatial standards can be more effectively applied to address priorities across Africa, including land administration, climate resilience, rural and urban digital twins, and the strengthening of spatial data infrastructures. The meeting will focus on the practical value of interoperability in improving data integration, institutional coordination, service delivery, and evidence-based decision-making across sectors.

While standards already exist, the adoption of interoperable approaches remains uneven across institutions and implementation environments. OGC Connect Cape Town will explore how these gaps can be addressed, including how the principles of the Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (IGIF) can be translated into practical systems, workflows, and partnerships that support more coherent and usable geospatial ecosystems.

The meeting will also focus on strengthening standards capability and implementation readiness across the continent, while broadening African participation in the development, localization, and application of geospatial standards. Through collaboration among government, academia, and industry, the meeting will highlight applied examples and implementation pathways that demonstrate how standards can move from policy and technical guidance into operational practice.
