Large Scale Airborne TEM Mapping Home Case studies Large Scale Airborne TEM Mapping Airborne Electromagnetics NAMIBIA Large Scale Airborne TEM Mapping The Geological Survey of Namibia commissioned a large-scale airborne TEM survey in northeastern Namibia using the TEMPEST® system, acquiring 25,000-line km of data. The survey aimed to test TEM’s ability to penetrate conductive Kalahari cover and map its thickness while revealing basement domains. TEM RGB Ternary images highlighted conductive cover and deep conductors, showing structural trends. Conductivity Depth Images processed with EMFlow produced 3D conductivity volumes, exposing a large, previously unknown sedimentary basin and isolated conductors. Depth slices at 40m, 140m, and 240m revealed conductive cover, basin edges, and basal structures. Profiles showed basement domains with strong structural features attractive for mineral exploration. This project reflects our commitment at Xcalibur Smart Mapping to deliver detailed subsurface insights, with regional mapping revealing a pervasive basal conductor reaching depths of 350-400m, providing essential data for exploration targeting in the region.
